Job Description• Lead Applied Biotechnology (AB) support activities at Research Center in Bangalore, India. • Manage multiple discovery technologies in support of drug discovery. • Responsibilities will include building and leading teams that provide bioassays, gene cloning, protein expression, and protein purification to support in vitro compound characterization and structural biology. • Build function alignments between AB in US and R & D in India • Report group status and issues in India to US AB leaders on a regular basis. • Identify work flow process gaps and provide solutions to close the gaps • Lead the collaboration with third parties to strengthen functions in India. • Build an effective team to support the functions of the Indian laboratories. • Coordinate assay execution, technology transfer, and data communication between US and India. • Actively manage project timelines and deliverables in India. • Manage molecular biology and protein production group, guiding workflow improvements and ensuring reagent availability for assays and cDNA, mutagenesis and clone set deliverables to US. • Working closely with the SATT leader in India. • Monitor SATT function timeline and deliverables.
Skill Required• Ten years of experience in drug discovery in pharmaceutical companies with a PhD degree in Molecular Biology and or related areas. • Strong working knowledge on enzyme kinetics, receptor pharmacology and or cell biology and cell line constructions. • Familiarity with bioassay technologies that are used for studying enzymes, kinases, GPCRs, ion channel and or nuclear hormone receptors. • Familiarity with current methods in molecular biology, recombinant protein expression, protein purification, and biochemistry, and an ability to guide and manage workflow in these areas. • Experience in one or more of the following disease research areas oncology, metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, immunology and or CNS. • A strong publication record in drug discovery. • Strong leadership in project and people management. • Understanding of statistical data analysis and assay performance parameters. • Excellent interpersonal skills, good team worker and excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Knowledge in advanced bioassay technologies and automation platforms is plus. • Detail oriented with outstanding coordination and organizational skills. • Must have the ability to flexibly handle multiple projects. • Creativity and strong problem solving skills. • Familiarity with other drug discovery disciplines such as medicinal chemistry, metabolism, and pharmacokinetics
